Today we worked with Google sheets. It's fun to work with because you can work on the document with friends, but I like Numbers better. To me Numbers is easier to figure out.
Google hangouts is a way to video chat through google. It's the same idea as skype. You can get up to nine people in one call, but have to have a gmail account to participate. Google hangouts also has some fun features like drawing or putting stickers on people's faces.
Here's a couple screenshots from my group chat. A google doodle is a daily changing drawing done by google employees usually seen as the header on google. Kids can design one and send it in to potentially have their drawing be the google logo. Here are a few of the state qualifying google doodles that I thought were cool.
Last week we learned about multiple google apps. One of the apps we played with was google translate. With google translate you can type in whatever you want to say and then choose a language and it will show you how to spell and say what you want. Another app is google shopping. With google shopping you can search for what you want and it gives you multiple options. Lastly, we learned how to screenshot. You can screenshot the whole screen or you can drag your mouse over something to take a screenshot of just a single item by hitting command-shift-4.
In class we played around with Google Maps. It can be used to figure out the time and distance to a location or directions.
Google drive is a feature on your gmail account where you can create, save, and share documents or other files. We learned how to share documents with other classmates and had a conversation on a practice document during class.
Highschool has started off well... The AHS volleyball team has their first scrimmage for the season this Friday at 5. We've practiced everyday after school from 3:30-5:30 and recently moved freshmen practice to the rec center. We've come a long way, and I can't wait to see how our team does this season.
Today I created a blog using Weebly. The class was taught how to use different features and I now have my own blog.
